- He is currently the director of the National Committee for the Rational Use of Antiretrovirals (CORESAR) and the Coordinator of the Working Group (adults) on the annual update of the Antiretroviral Management Guide for People with HIV (CENSIDA).
- He was deputy director of research at INCMNSZ from 1995 to 2007.
- He was editor of the journal Infectious Diseases and Microbiology from 1999 to 2001, and from 2007 to 2011, he was an advisor to the secretary of health on HIV/AIDS.
